I'm generally pretty smug as a matter of course, but today I'm being smug about something in particular: a mention amongst "some of the most influential voices" in Graham Holliday's list of thirteen UK media industry blogs in Press Gazette.
The list included Roy Greenslade; Andrew Grant-Adamson; Adrian Monck; Robin Hamman; Richard Sambrook; Paul Bradshaw; Shane Richmond; Neil McIntosh; Andy Dickinson; Richard Burton, Strange Attractor by Suw Charman and Kevin Anderson and Vickywatch.
Odd to think that Lloyd Shepherd and Simon Waldman,
both of whom would surely have been a shoe-in less than a year ago, didn't make
the list - presumably because Lloyd wrapped up his blog mid 2006 and Simon posts very rarely these days (though when he does, it's a real doozy).
You can just about make me out at the bottom of the third column. (Incidentally the photo was taken on holiday in Alderney two summers ago at the Landmark Trust's wonderful Fort Clonque, during the week of the 7/7 bombings in London. If you and twelve friends like spending a week in a remote Victorian fort I can't recommend it highly enough.)

Bah. Simon Waldman. What a smug git that man is.
Well done, your smugness is well-deserved.

Can't say I agree with you about Simon, but far be it from me to censor opinions merely because I disagree with them.

Oh, come on, he is. Can't say I blame him, GU's been so much more successful than its parent newspaper, but he does have a hugely condescending air about him.

Congratulations and well deserved!

Oh, you're that Seamus. Blimey, maybe I do actually already subscribe to everyone in the blogroll feature. Sorry Seamus, didn't immediately realise.
(and a note to Ilana - you're practically ubiquitous...)

Smug git ;-)
