Seal "bites" penguin

Here's a story from the BBC website about a seal raping a penguin. Why am I troubling you with this prurient bestiophilic drivel? Just because I am pretty much certain that at the end of the year this will prove to have been the most-viewed, emailed, Dugg or by any other metric popular story on the BBC News site and I wanted you to hear it here first.

(How do I know? Because every year the most popular news stories online concern acts of sexual misadventure and animals, except for that one about a man who was over-fond of his bicycle. Unless it turns out between now and the end of December that a celebrity, politician or religious leader has been up to something surprisingly unsavoury this story about a seal getting together with a penguin has a very good chance of being the biggest news event of 2008.)

It is a hollywood marriage, a publicity stunt ahead of the upcoming Pingu movie. Everyone knows Robby the seal prefers giving oral sex to fish. He just loves to swallow the huge fish.

someone should start a betting market for this sort of stuff. would be quite interesting to wager on most popular story of the year . . .

Noah - I fear it would be open to some fairly obvious forms of abuse, but with that caveat I'm sure one of the betting exchanges would be able to facilitate such a thing.

Nope - lacks the crucial human element. It'll be popular, sure, but much like the homosexual necrophiliac rape in ducks, it'll never quite make it to the big leagues.

Hmmmm. I think about this sort of issue too much.
