The New York Times reports (via Adverlab) that a study from CipherTrust shows that click-through rates for pornographic spam stand at 5.6%. That's more than one in twenty pieces of pornographic spam that generate a click. That's a lot, lot better response than many other advertising formats. 60 billion emails are sent every day (MSNBC) and - depending on who you ask - "some" or "many" or "most" of these are spam. Evidently, there's so much spam because spam works really well. Want less spam? Stop clicking on the links!
