Richard McManus at Read/Write Web writes that Google is likely to merge Orkut with Dodgeball. I'm very much inclined to agree, though for slightly different reasons to the ones he puts forward. As I've mentioned before, proposed US legislation blocking access to social networks - and therefore by implication most of the web (Yelvington) - from schools and libraries is really just a foot on the accelerator for the development of mobile social networks. MySpace and Bebo (Mashable) are already known to be busy working on their own mobile applications - if Google can shortcut all of that with its existing assets, it probably should.
