It looks like one TV channel may have jumped the gun on the relaxation of the rules on TV product placement planned for later this year.
Vintage TV - a music TV channel for the over-50s available on Sky and Freeview - plays a roster of golden oldie music videos. In what I assume was a typical morning I saw an excellent live performance of Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash, the original Beach Boys video for Good Vibrations, any number of presumably less famous fifty-year olds tunes I didn't recognise, plus a video for The Who's 1969 song Pinball Wizard recut to include footage of both the Nintendo Wii and the portable DS handheld games machine.
Vintage TV have not responded to a request for comment as to whether it's an ad - perhaps it's not a paid placement at all but just some videographer casually adding modern footage to a video from the middle of the last century. If so, it looks wildly out of place; but more than that, it looks like an ad dropped into the middle of a music video.
